Sammie Szmodics looks set to miss a run of games for Ipswich as the Ireland striker picked up an ankle injury against Fulham last weekend.
The former Blackburn Rovers forward is currently wearing a protective boot and manager Kieran McKenna is hoping that the injury is not "very, very serious".
Speaking ahead of his side's FA Cup third-round tie with against Bristol Rovers at Portman Road, McKenna said that Szmodics would undergo a further medical assessment on the ankle injury after the weekend.
Szmodics scored Ipswich's opening goal in the 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage before going off injured in the 73rd minute of the game.
"We don’t know how long he will be out, to be honest," said McKenna.
"Hopefully it won’t be a very, very serious injury, but he is in a boot at the minute with damage to his ankle.
"He will be assessed on Monday to get a little bit of a clearer picture on where he is at."
Szmodics joins fellow Ireland international forward Chiedozie Ogbene on the Ipswich injury list with the latter expected to miss out on the rest of the season due to an Achilles issue.
There is no suggestion that Szmodics is now in doubt for Ireland's UEFA Nations League play-off double-header with Bulgaria in March.
Szmodics started all ten games for the Republic of Ireland throughout the 2024 calendar year.
