Derry City's disappointing form continued as they had to come from behind to earn a deserved point against Galway United.
Michael Duffy's second half penalty cancelled out Moses Dyer's opening goal, but as things stand Tiernan Lynch's new-look team sit at the bottom of the table after five games.
The home side were inches away from taking a fourth-minute lead but Dom Thomas' right footed shot from around the penalty spot, whistled just past United goalkeeper Evan Watts' right hand post.
More good play down City's left saw them create another half chance moments later as Ben Doherty's clipped cross to the back post found Liam Boyce, but his header while being challenged, was easily gathered by Watts.
Boyce was a boot length away from opening his City goalscoring account on 18 minutes as Duffy's left wing cross-cum-shot into the six yard box flashed just in front of the sliding front-man.
Soon after Duffy went close, but his curling right footed strike, which had Watts beaten, sailed just wide.
A superb last ditch tackle by Bobby Burns denied Thomas a certain goal mid-way through the first half, when the ex-Glentoran man got back to block the City winger's close range effort.
Just after the half-hour mark a great pass down field by Ronan Boyce released Thomas, who after getting in behind the United defence, saw his right footed shot from a tight angle, parried away by Watts.
Watts made a comfortable save on 40 minutes when Duffy's right wing corner found Kevin Holt at the back post, but his downward header was straight at United keeper.
The deadlock was broken against the run as the vistiors took the lead on 43 minutes as Edward McCarthy's long throw-in was flicked on into the six yard box by Patrick Hickey and Dyer turned home the loose ball.

City began the second half on the front foot and went close to levelling things on 48 minutes as Adam O'Reilly's 20 yard strike, which had Watts struggling, flashed just wide.
Derry were awarded a penalty 54 minutes as referee Neil Doyle pointed to the spot as he felt Hickey handled Sadou Diallo's long range strike, and after the visitors protests were waved away, Duffy blasted home the resulting spot-kick.
On 69 minutes Dyer saw his well hit drive from the left hand side of the box, which had Maher worried, blocked by defender Mark Connolly.
A sublime piece of skill by Ronan Boyce minutes later saw the right back get skip away from a few challenges, but his tame side-footed shot failed to trouble Watts and flew wide.
A super cross from Doherty 84 minutes found Hayden Cann at the back post, but the big centre-back couldn't mark his debut with a goal as his close range header landed on top of the net.
Right at the death United went close to stealing all three points as Jimmy Keohane got behind the Derry defence, but his close range shot was saved by an out-rushing Brian Maher.
