Leona Maguire finds herself five shots off the lead after a disappointing start to the Blue Bay LPGA in China.

Scoring proved difficult on the opening day with Japan's Ayaka Furue, Korea’s A Lim Kim and American Auston Kim all taking a share of the lead with four-under par 68s on Hainan Island.

Maguire finds herself on one-over par after beginning the third event of the Asian Swing with a round of 73.

Starting on the 10th, the Cavan golfer was out in 37 with bogeys at the 12th and par-five 18th offset by a birdie at the 15th.

Maguire parred the first, her 10th, and recorded three birdies and three bogeys over her next seven holes.

Defending champion Bailey Tardy has serious work to do to defend her title as she started with a three-over par 75 after suffering a testing 41 on her opening nine.

Meanwhile, the Australian WPGA Championship has been cancelled due to Cyclone Alfred.

Irish trio Lauren Walsh, Anna Foster and Annabel Wilson were due to compete at the Gold Coast Ladies European Tour event, but with the category 2 storm nearing landfall, the decision was taken to pull the tournament altogether.
