Antrim manager Davy Fitzgerald has confirmed that their crucial Allianz Hurling League Division 1B clash with Laois on Sunday will proceed despite a bout of sickness severely hampering their preparations for the game.

Both sides will desperately go in search of points to boost their survival hopes with the game now at Corrigan Park having originally been scheduled for Ballycastle.

A gastric bug ripped through the Saffron squad this week meaning that a number of players were unable to train, but Fitzgerald said that fulfilling the fixture is not in jeopardy despite being reported as a possible option earlier this week.

"There has been a virus in the camp but we fully expect that to be cleared by Sunday," Fitzgerald told BBC Sport NI.

"This massive game against Laois will go ahead as scheduled.

"Let me be absolutely clear, win lose or draw Antrim are not and will not be making any excuses.

"Laois are tough opposition, this is a 50/50 game and we look forward to a big crowd at Corrigan Park."

Antrim sit fifth in the Division 1B table with three points from five games with the O'Moore County a point behind, although they have two games in hand.
