Leona Maguire equalled her solid 69 round of yesterday at the HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore to finish just outside the top 20, in 21st position.

After her much improved round three, where she managed three birdies, Maguire was on track to break into the top 20 on the leaderboard, but her final round left her just outside that.

Maguire made a strong on the final day with birdies on the first and second. The Cavan woman continued that form, recovering from a 12th-hole bogey with birdies on the 13th and 16th.

The 30-year-old finished on two under for the day and 11 shots off the eventual winner Lydia Ko.

LEADERBOARD

Olympic Champion Ko came into the final day's play, sitting atop the leaderboard, just one shot ahead of England's Charley Hull.

The New Zealand golfer ended up strolling to her first World Championship title on her 11th attempt, winning by four shots from Ayaka Furue and Jeeno Thitikul.

Ko overcame an average start before finding rhythm with a birdie on the par-5 sixth.

The Women's British Open champion then added back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth and from then on was in control of the leaderboard. Bogeys on the 11th and 17th didn't deter Ko and she romped to victory carding 69 for the final round.
