Republic of Ireland internationals Robbie Brady and Will Keane helped Preston into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 1966 with a 3-0 win at Deepdale.
Milutin Osmajic taunted Burnley fans after securing Preston's second late in the first half after Brady’s outstanding free-kick had put North End in front in the 31st minute, and Keane added a third midway through the second half as Preston put an emphatic end to Burnley’s 23-game unbeaten run.
Osmajic was straight into the action, flashing a shot narrowly wide inside 20 seconds, but chances proved hard to come by for both sides, hardly a surprise given that both league meetings this season ended in 0-0 draws.
Twenty-five yards out, Brady bent his shot up and over the Burnley wall to find the top left corner of the net and register his first Preston goal in over a year.
Burnley should have levelled four minutes before the break with their best chance of the game. Luca Koleosho picked up the pieces after Lyle Foster was dispossessed, bursting into the box but then pulling his left-footed shot wide of the target.
Burnley seemed to stop, expecting to hear John Brooks' whistle after Josh Brownhill’s pass hit Ryan Ledson in the face, flooring the Preston man, but play went on and Potts’ ball split the visiting defence as Osmajic ran through to score, cupping his ears to the Burnley fans as he celebrated.
Goals from Daniel Munoz and Eddie Nketiah fired Crystal Palace into the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 3-1 victory over 10-man Millwall at Selhurst Park which was overshadowed by an injury to Jean-Philippe Mateta.
The game was just eight minutes old when Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts was sent off for his reckless challenge on Palace striker Mateta, who was carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital.
Japhet Tanganga's own goal opened the scoring for the hosts in the 33rd minute and Munoz added another for the Eagles seven minutes later.
Wes Harding clawed one back for the visitors deep in first-half stoppage time before Nketiah – who came on for Mateta – extended Palace’s lead nine minutes from time.
Nketiah then provided Palace their cushion from Eberechi Eze's nodded-on free kick, looping a header past Jensen in the 81st minute.
