Mayo will not field a senior camogie team in 2025.

The news comes after the county shipped some heavy defeats last year in the league and All-Ireland Junior Championship, together with Galway native Colum O'Meara stepping down as manager.

After Mayo reformed as a senior side in 2021, success did follow as they won a Nancy Murray Cup and a Divsion 4 league title.

O'Meara highlighted the lack of collective training sessions as a major issue, while Mayo Camogie PRO, Fiona Duffy told the Mayo News that it was "disappointing" the county will not be represented at adult level this year.

Duffy pointed to "work commitments and travelling" as reasons for the lack of numbers available.

Mayo will continue to field an under-16 and minor team.

In 1959, the county did contest an All-Ireland senior final, losing to a star-packed Dublin side that included Kay Mills, Kay Ryder and Una O'Connor.
