Aaron Hill was beaten 5-4 by England's Jimmy Robertson in the last 32 of the World Open in Yushan, China today.
The Cork man came from 4-2 down to force a decider against an opponent he defeated at the German Masters last month.
Hill made breaks of 68, 72 and 78 in the match, while Robertson recorded two centuries.
Robertson claimed victory with a 66 in the ninth frame.
Irish interest is now over with Mark Allen beaten yesterday by David Lilley.
