Callum Robinson's brace helped Cardiff claim their biggest South Wales derby league win for nearly 60 years with a 3-0 Sky Bet Championship home victory over arch rivals Swansea.

The Ireland forward hit a quick-fire double at the start of the second-half to put the Bluebirds in command and Dimitrios Goutas thundered home a header off the underside of the crossbar to ram home their superiority.

It ended a run of six games without home joy for Cardiff and secured the biggest league victory over their arch-rivals since winning 5-0 at Ninian Park in April 1965.

The only negative note for Cardiff was Omer Riza’s red card in stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United moved to the top of the Championship table with a comfortable 2-0 win over Norwich.

The Blades, for whom Harrison Burrows scored twice – once from the spot – went above leaders Leeds and will now find themselves in the unusual position of supporting cross-city rivals Sheffield Wednesday when they head to Elland Road on Sunday.

Tony Mowbray's return to the West Brom dugout ended with a 1-1 draw against Stoke.

Mowbray was unveiled by the Baggies on Friday, returning to work after battling cancer, and saw his new charges earn a point when Grady Diangana (71) cancelled out Nathan Lowe’s ninth-minute opener.

Cameron Brannagan’s goal midway throughout the second half earned Oxford a 1-0 win over Blackburn, while Brandon Thomas-Asante’s goal secured Coventry a victory over Bristol City by the same scoreline.

Matt Bloomfield’s first match in charge of Luton was a 0-0 draw with Preston and goals from Imran Louza and Edo Kayembe helped Watford to a 2-0 success at Derby.

Matt Ritchie scored twice in the second half as Portsmouth beat Middlesbrough 2-1. Emmanuel Latte Lath had put Boro ahead in a match significantly delayed by a medical emergency in the crowd.

Hull won 1-0 at Millwall thanks to a Jake Cooper own goal and QPR made it three Championship wins in a row with a 1-0 victory at bottom side Plymouth, substitute Rayan Kolli scoring the 65th-minute winner.
