Storms washed away the third round of the Toto Japan Classic on Saturday as Typhoon Kong-rey unleashed heavy rain at Seta Golf Course in Shiga.

The LPGA said the event will be shortened to 54 holes, with the final round scheduled for Sunday.

LEADERBOARD

Hana Wakimoto of Japan, who shot rounds of 63 and 68 to open the $2m tournament, is the leader at 13-under.

Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand and Yealimi Noh are tied for second, two strokes off the lead. Japan's Rio Takeda is three shots back.

A second-round 72 saw Ireland's Leona Maguire slip back to three-under, ten shots off the lead, on Friday.

Wakimoto, 27, is playing in just her second LPGA Tour event. She also competed in the 2023 US Women's Open and missed the cut. A win would give her the opportunity to accept immediate LPGA Tour membership or defer until the 2025 season.

Jutanugarn is a 12-time winner on tour, while Noh, a Northern Californianative, is seeking her first title.
