Republic of Ireland midfielder Ruesha Littlejohn is a free agent after parting ways with her club London City Lionesses.

The 75-cap international has been with the club for 18 months but her future was in doubt after being left out the squad for matches against Fulham and Bristol City in the last 10 days.

Speculation had been mounting that the Lionesses were looking to make changes to their squad that included an exit for Littlejohn.

A statement from the club read: "London City Lionesses and Ruesha Littlejohn have mutually agreed to part ways.

"This decision allows Ruesha to focus on the next chapter of her playing career and explore new opportunities within the game.

"The club recognises Ruesha's contributions during her time with the team and wishes her success moving forward."

Littlejohn had been with Leicester City, West Ham United, Birmingham City and Aston Villa in the last five years before making the move to the capital.

She will look to find a new club with recently-appointed Ireland boss Carla Ward currently assessing her options ahead of the Nations League campaign.
