Seamus Power endured a difficult start to 2025 with a birdie-less 73 in his opening round at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
The Waterford golfer, who had a strong end to the 2024 season with four top-20 finishes in his last seven tournaments, sits nine strokes adrift of the leaders, well down the field at three over par.
The two-time PGA Tour winner dropped strokes on the second, 13th and the par-five 18th.

Midway through Day 1 at Waialae Country Club, there is a five-way tie at the top of the leaderboard, with England's Harry Hall joined by the American quartet, Denny McCarthy, Eric Cole, Adam Schenk and Paul Peterson on six-under par, the latter with three holes remaining in his round.
Canada's Adam Hadwin is among the players grouped on five-under par, while major winners Brian Harman and Webb Simpson are in the grouping on four under par.
