Japan's Hideki Matsuyama bested American Collin Morikawa to take victory at The Sentry, making a PGA Tour record to par for 72 holes by closing with an eight-under 65.

His score of 35 under (257) for the tournament gave him a three-shot victory over Morikawa on the Plantation course in Kapalua, Hawaii.

Matsuyama sealed the win with an eight-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th hole, giving a small fist pump in celebration.

The putt broke Australian golfer Cameron Smith's 2022 record at Kapalua by one.

Matsuyama's win in Hawaii marks his 11th PGA Tour title.

South Korea's Sungjae Im (65) was third at 29 under and Venezuela's Jhonattan Vegas (65) taking fourth, a shot further back.

Belgium's Thomas Detry (71), Sweden's Ludvig Aberg (64) and Canada's CoreyConners (67) shared fifth place at 24 under.

Canada's Taylor Pendrith recorded the first albatross in the 27-year history of the tournament, helping him to a 67 for the second day in a row. He ended up tied for 13th place at 22 under. His two on the par-5 fifth hole was thehighlight, though a double-bogey on 17 took some shine off his round.
