Offaly Gaelic footballer Amy Gavin Mangan has joined a strong Irish contingent at AFLW club North Melbourne FC.
The Kangaroos selected Gavin Mangan in the AFLW Draft after she turned the heads of recruiters when playing for the Faithful County .
She becomes the fifth Irish player on their roster, following in the footsteps of Vikki Wall (Meath), Erika O’Shea (Cork) Niamh Martin (Tipperary) and Bláithín Bogue (Fermanagh).
In a statement confirming her arrival, North Melbourne said: "The 25-year-old stood out to recruiters with her speed and agility while playing Gaelic football, as well as her ability to use her strong athletic traits to her advantage."
In November, North Melbourne won their first ever AFLW Premiership, wrapping up a brilliant unbeaten season by defeating Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final.
Last March Offaly dual star Kate Kenny headed Down Under when she signed for the Geelong Cats.
