Felix Jones has officially left his role with England and the RFU.

Jones handed in his notice as England's defence coach in August, just over seven months after taking the job in Steve Borthwick's backroom team, and has spent the last four months working remotely for the RFU while the terms of his departure were agreed.

The former Ireland international, who has previously worked with Munster and at South Africa, has now officially been released from his contract.

"The RFU can confirm that England Rugby men's assistant coach Felix Jones will step down from his role on Friday 13 December," a RFU statement said.

The 37-year-old's name had also been linked with a return to his former province Munster, who are still looking for a new head coach following the departure of Graham Rowntree in late October.
