Dundalk have signed striker Dean Ebbe, the the top scorer in last season's SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division with Athlone Town.

The vastly experienced 30-year-old has played with Shamrock Rovers and Crusaders, while also enjoying a number of successful seasons with The New Saints in Wales.

Following an outstanding season with Athlone in 2024, where he notched 20 goals in all competitions, Ebbe was nominated for the PFA Ireland Men’s First Division Player of the Year and was named in the PFAI First Division Team of the Year.

Incoming Dundalk manager Ciarán Kilduff is familiar with Ebbe having been in charge of Athlone Town's women's team last season, while the pair were also at Rovers at the same time during the manager's playing days in 2012 and 2013.

Ebbe said: "Dundalk is a massive club. Talking to Ciarán and talking to a few ex-players, they were saying that I have to go here. I’m looking forward to it, hopefully it’s a good season.

"Ciarán got in touch with my agent. He was at Athlone last season and watched a lot of the games. I met up with him and he gave me a few ideas of what he wants to do for the coming year. I really liked it so I came on board.

"He explained it, it’s a clean slate now. All that off-the-field stuff is done now, all we can do is concentrate on football and hopefully get us back to where we belong."

Attacking midfielder Harry Groome is also making the move to Oriel Park, following two seasons at Bray Wanderers.

Groome has racked up over 120 appearances in the second tier of Irish football over the past four years and scored in this season’s promotion/relegation play-off final when Bray lost out to Drogheda United.

"I’m delighted to be here, I’m really looking forward to the year," Groome told the club website, after putting pen to paper on Saturday.
