Bai Yulu achieved another notable first with victory in a televised ranking event match for the first time.
The 21-year-old Chinese woman, who won three matches at the recent UK Championship qualifiers, defeated Jamie Clarke in the Snooker Shoot Out.
Bai, the women's world champion, built a 40-13 lead in the one-frame event and Clarke missed the last red as he tried to recover.
"I just tried to stay as focused as possible when taking each shot," she said on wst.tv.
"It’s tough with the atmosphere and the crowd but I aimed to stay serious. I wasn’t fixated on winning, I just wanted to enjoy the experience.
"I noticed that Jamie was a bit shaky, just like me. In this atmosphere, nerves are inevitable. It’s all about who can handle the pressure better."
Two players from Northern Ireland at opposite stages of their career met when Gerard Greene and Robbie McGuigan clashed, with the veteran Greene winning 66-24 as a break of 58 proved terminal to McGuigan's chances.
There were defeats for Thai female duo Mink Nutcharut and Baipat Siripaporn, though, with the latter losing out to Mark Selby.
Shaun Murphy and Neil Robertson made it through along with 16-year-old Welsh amateur Riley Powell.
